MacBook Air 11”,Friend or Foe to a photographer?

MacBookAirs

Granted,I am an amateur photographer but this was somthing that I have been pondering for the past 8 months. To buy or not to buy a MacBook Air?

I just bit the bullet and bought the high end 11”model with 16.gh,128ssd and 4gb RAM. I have a 3 days trip to TN and that will be the true test. Air travel, portability, storage restriction, and many other conserns that I never really noticed that I should pay attention to until I migrated my data from my old MacBook Pro.

Looking forward to the test. I’ll let you know.

Photogene for iPad:My quick review.

(This post is from my iPad WordPress app)

The best photo editing app I have found so far for the iPad is Photogene. I know that there are a few reviews of this app already out there but here is my take on it.

The best this about the iPad,in my opinion,is the support for the USB / SD card adapter that hasn’t even been released yet. It was the one thing that gave me the push to want one of these things. With that said, photo editing and organizing is very important to me on the go,for quick sharing and uploading to sites like picasa,MobileMe and Flickr. Photogene has been good to me so far for quick edits and fixes. Some things that are missing are features like the ability to isolate one color, like ColorSplash on the iPhone, red eye repair and a few other tools that I can’t think of at the moment. Here’s an example of a before and after shot, edited by Photogene.

All in all a nice start. Looking forward to future updates.

Crunch Gear:Aperture 3 Review

Crunch Gear:
If you’re a photographer and use a Mac,chances are you’re using Lightroom or Aperture. Probably Lightroom, since Aperture is less popular among pros — and the latest version seems to be an acknowledgment of that. The features added in version 3 are clearly intended to draw casual shooters using iPhoto to the paid image editing honey pot. Since so many of these amazing new features are direct side-loads from iPhoto,it smooths the process and makes the program as a whole more approachable, though whether existing Aperture users will find them helpful is questionable. Brushes,on the other hand, are a welcome addition to any photographer’s toolset, and depending on how dedicated you are,may be worth the price of admission. Read On…
